Their internal components are designed to prevent sparks, overheating, or electrical discharge that could ignite dangerous substances. While rugged phones focus on durability and survival under physical impact, explosion-proof phones prioritize intrinsic safety. Conversely, explosion-proof phones also incorporate rugged features, but their defining characteristic is compliance with hazardous-area regulations.
